How did you discover yoga?
I had a hip replacement and could no longer run and play ice
hockey. I had to find a gentler way to exercise. The first yoga
class I attended was power vinyasa and I quickly realized how
little strength I had in my arms and how tight all my muscles
were. I next tried a beginner class and slowly worked my way to
a strong more flexible body.
Why do you practice
yoga?
I am a professional potter so my spine and shoulders are
continually in contorted positions. Also I have had both hips
replaced so they are always tight. I would have chronic pain if
it weren't for yoga.
Favorite pose?
I love all the hip openers, and poses that stretch the side
body. Triangle pose and reverse triangle are my favorites
What do you like about
BLYS?
I love the variety of classes and the option of morning or
evening. I love the urban feel of the studio; it brings a little
hipness to Falmouth. As soon as Casey starts teaching again I
will love it even more.
